In 2004, an International Health program was established to provide students with an opportunity to learn about the complex interplay between social, political, and economic factors that shape the health care system in Africa. This program allowed students a chance to travel abroad, to learn about different cultures, and experience medicine in a developing country. In 2004 only one student participated in the 4-week program held at the KMT Hospital in Shirati, Tanzania.
